There are currently no active Venezuelan Formula 1 drivers racing in the 2021 season. The most recent Venezuelan driver to compete in F1 was Pastor Maldonado, who raced for Williams, Lotus, and Haas between 2011 and 2015. Maldonado began his career in karting in Venezuela before competing in various single-seater series in Europe, culminating in his F1 debut with Williams in 2011. During his time in F1, he faced criticism for his inconsistent performance and for bringing significant financial backing to the teams he raced for. Despite this, Maldonado remains a popular figure among Venezuelan fans, who celebrate his historic victory as the first (and so far only) Venezuelan driver to win a Formula 1 race.
